Negro drinking at "Colored" water cooler in streetcar terminal, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
This
picture is a good example of the Great Depression because this picture shows that Black people had different things then the White people that were just discrminating. If you look at image 2 you see that White water fountain is bigger cleaner while the person to the left in image 1 has a tank of water that says dirty and doesn't run as good as the White water fountain. Also, in image 2 the water fountain is smaller which is just depressing cause it is not even bigger that the Colored sign. I find it to be shameful and sad for the ways that Black people were treated and coming from a African American myself i feel very offended.

Q8M: If someone made this today then, it would be showing the early life of how African American's created thier ways.

This image was made to show how factories were built and made in the olden days. It also, shows that there was no highly qualified machines and for that reason there were problems with lots of machines.
I can learn that we should appreciate the use of technology we have now. Some people don't go to work because of vacations, but we don't realize that these people didn't have that and that they put a lot of hard work and effort into their job to make a living.
What happened to this piece of machinery?

This shows that these people are very hard-working and loyal to what they do. In the slide with a woman in a factory on her own by herself with no help what so ever. If you were that woman now, would you be in the factory working like how she is? They show that times were rough back in the day and order to survive you have to work and work almost everyday and there was no such thing as relaxation or breaks because when there were breaks, you know you weren't getting paid or eating that night or day. For example, Clyde "Kingfish" Smith is a street worker and he sings if Clyde doesn't sing on the street and a couple of coins for his talent then how will he survive in wheather conditions or foodless nights. http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/wpaintro/clyde.html. Another interview that took place was lovely woman named Mrs. Mayme Reese who is an African American housewife in New York City who was very pationet about her work of art with quilts and entered a country fair were they all tested each unique quilt based on pattern, color and stich. This shows that this was a part of life back in the 1800'shttp://memory.loc.gov/ammem/wpaintro/mayme.html . Another interview that interested me was the "Man at Eddies bar." He described himself as not being a New York but says he is a New Yorker because he lived in New York for more than twenty-five years but was from Jacksonville, Florida, Also, he says, "Cheating those poor people out a whut they got. Shooting, cutting, backbiting, all them things. Yuh see? Yuh see what Ah mean? I'm in New York, but New York ain't in me!" This must have been a hard time for this man because he witnessed the shooting and cutting of poor and innocentt people who had a family, where Florida didn't have hard-times such as this but New York wasn't for the "Man at Eddies bar!" http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/wpaintro/manbar.html.
